Reading the Condensed Figures
CondensedFigs Image

The above image is an example of a race from the condensed figures.

The first number is the program number, then the horse's name, followed by the morning line.  Next comes the running style of the horse.  An E is for Early, or frontrunner.  P is for Presser, and S is for Sustained, or Closer.  The number in black is an overall early speed rating based on a horse's last four races followed by a '/' followed by the Quirin type speed points.  Next is an overall late speed rating, similar in nature to the early speed rating.

Then follows the the overall ratings, or Performance Figures as I call them, for each horse.  No other internal ratings, like the race pace figure or horse speed figure, are included.  So, in the above example, the 1 Discreet Cat ran a 107 PF in his last race, a 90 prior, all the way to a 112 ten races ago.  The most recent figure is on the left, and up to 10 are displayed.

A figure in brown indicates a dirt race, a figure in blue indicates a race on an artificial dirt surface (polytrack, cushion track, tapeta, etc. ), while a figure in green indicates a turf race.  A bold number indicates the race was run on the same surface as today AND within 1/2 furlong of today's distance.  So, for example, the 6 Gottcha Gold, ran a 110 last out, but at a distance more than a half furlong different from today.  His prior race is an 107, which is bolded.  This means the race was within 1/2 furlong of today's distance.
