STAGE PLAYER sped to the early lead, angled in on the first turn, set the pace inside, continued on a clear lead past midstretch and held on under some urging and good handling. DOMINGO JUAN (ARG) angled in and chased inside, came off the rail on the second turn and into the stretch, bumped with a rival in midstretch and surged late. CALSTER unhurried outside a rival early, moved up inside on the second turn, came out in the stretch, bumped with the runner-up in midstretch and bested the others. AMERICAN ALL STAR chased between horses, came three deep into the stretch and lacked the needed rally. GLAD HUNTER (GER) angled in and stalked inside and weakened in the stretch. SAVAGE (BRZ) four wide early, chased three deep to the stretch and could not summon the necessary response. GULCHIE (GB) saved ground off the pace to the stretch and failed to menace. LOOKN EAST had speed outside then stalked off the rail to the stretch and weakened. HOLDTHEHELM chased three deep then four wide into the second turn and also weakened. HOMELAND (FR) was in a good position stalking inside then outside a rival, went three deep leaving the backstretch, dropped back on the second turn and gave way. A claim of foul by the rider of CALSTER against the runner-up for alleged interference in the stretch was not allowed by the stewards, who ruled both runners contributed to the contact between them.
