Sprint
1 Smokey Stover 7-2
Has run in two races in his entire
career where the pace was 105 or above, and lost both times. It
could exceed 115 of 120 here, so it doesn't bode well for him.
2 Midnight Lute 2-1
Monster effort for a monster sized
horse last time going longer. The pace was pedestrian, and he may
have a harder time getting good position going 6f in fast time.
3 Attila's Storm 15-1 (Scr)
Scratched.
4 Talent Search 15-1
Big, big effort last time. He also ran giant on Preakness day in a losing effort and shows a workout in a race win between.
5 Kelly's Landing 20-1
Won the $2,000,000 sprint in Dubai, something the American horses always do. There wasn't much competition, and this one hasn't been seen since. I don't want any parts of him.
6 Commentator 12-1
Simply not the same horse anymore. Some think he is a wet track specialist. I think he is done.
7 Idiot Proof 10-1
Clearly better on dirt than
synthetic. He has run some big ones, but he is in pretty deep
here and probably won't be able to handle the pace.
8 Benny the Bull 6-1
I've loved this horse most of the
year, calling him the equal of Fabulous Strike in May. His two
starts for Dutrow have been adventurous. A poor break and slow
pace doomed him the first time, and a slow pace did him in second out.
That said, his running style needs help, but is the pace ever
slow in the BC Sprint?
9 Bordonaro 15-1
Put a fork in him, he's done.
10 Greg's Gold 9-2Solid horse that always runs hard. He had a brutal trip last time and should have won, but isn't he still just too slow for these?
11 Forefathers 20-1
I gave him a chance in the dirt mile, but he gets no such nod here.
RECAP: I like two horses here, Talent Search and Benny the Bull. I'll have win bets and and exacta box on them.
