No speed at all, next.

2 Cannonball 50-1

I don't get the morning line on this one.  Appears to have as good a chance as any of the other American horses here.

3 The Leopard 8-1

I have to assume the connections are disappointed to be in this race instead of the dirt counterpart.  Tough to gauge this one's lone turf outing as it turned into a mere workout with no opposition whatsoever.

4 Cherokee Triangle 10-1

Horse shows a nice late kick, especially in last when tracking a moderate pace.

5 Strike the Deal 9-2

Comes in off a handful of sprints in Europe.  He did narrowly miss last out in a G1 while 9 to 1  in a 9 horse field.  Certainly a contender, but I'm not sold.

6 Gio Ponti 8-1

Very impressive winning both starts while racing off very slow paces.  His overall figures don't tell the whole story here, intriguing horse.

7 Nownownow 10-1

Nice effort winning a stakes first time on turf.  He ran well enough second out, but couldn't handle Gio Ponti late.

8 Achill Island 7-2

I prefer this one of the European horses.  He has been running longer and should handle the non-firm turf course.

9 Prussian 3-1

This horses's last was not very impressive to me.  His figures are shaped the wrong way (pace faster than speed), which probably won't work here.  He can win, but looks like a bad bet at a low price to me.

10 Preachin Man 50-1

Your guess is as good as mine as to why this horse is entered.  He has done nothing but sprint on dirt, and isn't bred particularly for either turf or distance.  No thanks.

All four starts have been on polytrack, or quasi turf.  He hasn't shown much to make me think he can contend here, and will most likely lose a lot of ground.

The third Euro horse gets a tough draw.  He rates a little below the other two figure wise and should get a tough journey.

RECAP:

In a race I don't care for very much, I'll take a chance that maybe Gio Ponti has more in the tank than he has shown thus far if he is near his 8 to 1 morning line or higher.
