Juvenile Fillies
1 Phantom Income 30-1
Two very good races sandwich two
stinkers. Still, the very good ones are sprinting, and probably
not good enough figure wise anyway.
2 Clearly Foxy 30-1
2 for 2, but both are on turf.
Sire won the BC Classic. You have to make an educated guess
here, and I'm thinking based on pace shape of her first two she won't
take to dirt, at least first time out.
3 Tasha's Miracle 10-1
Another that has yet to run on dirt
with four synthetic track races showing. Ran deceptively well
last time from a bad post.
4 Indian Blessing 3-1
Deserving favorite could have her work cut out. She is very fast early and seems to tire late. That could get her in trouble here, especially if anyone can run with her a little in the beginning.
5 Irish Smoke 8-1
Gigantic race in debut, but that usually isn't a good sign for young horses. She has regressed badly twice in her next two, and I'm not expecting a rebound here.
6 Set Play 20-1
Yet another with no dirt races, all five on synthentic. Consistent if unspectacular filly appears in too deep here.
7 Backseat Rhythm 12-1
A second to Indian Blessing last
time, albeit it a distant second. The pace that day favored her
late move, yet she still didn't get very close to the winner.
Looks like a suck up second to me.
8 Izarra 8-1
SoCal performer means she also hasn't
seen real dirt. She lacks early speed, and that doesn't work as
well as it does on synthetic. Her figures are nothing special.
9 Smarty Deb 30-1
Some like her. She beat colts at Emerald, and one of those she defeated won on the undercard on BC day at Mth lighting up the tote at a big number. Still, I just don't see her being close here.
10 Proud Spell 5-1Perfect three wins in three tries. Two mediocre fig wins surround a very nice one. I've learned to be skeptical of Delaware Park figures though, and her poor number in winning the Matron make her a toss for me.
11 Zee Zee 30-1
What is Mott thinking putting this horse in here? All turf races, and good ones, but that won't translate to success in this contest.
12 Grace Anatomy 10-1
Seems to be the wise guy choice in here...I hate her. She has no speed, a growing trend among successful synthetic track horses. Maybe in 08 at Santa Anita, but not here. Her races have been too slow for me.
13 Cry and Catch Me 6-1 (Scr)
Scratched.
14 A to the Croft 10-1
Too slow and a bad post are not a very good combination.
RECAP: Indian Blessing is the most likely winner at short odds, but if she can't hang on, I'll be trying to get Tasha's Miracle home.
