Juvenile

1 Street Sense 20-1

Young colt shows a nice, improving pattern. Set a quick pace on polytrack, which meant no chance at Keeneland. I'll have him on my tickets.

2 Stormello 6-1

Comes in off an upset victory in the highly rated Norfolk stakes. The horse has tactical speed, and is a must use for me.

3 Scat Daddy 4-1

Another strong contender. The horse had a few tough trips in sprints when he didn't break clean, but managed to win the first. His last the Champagne, was his most impressive race yet despite being his lowest figure. The race had a negative pace shape, that is the pace noticably lower than the speed figure, yet the horse was able to rally wide and win anyway.

4 King of the Roxy 12-1

A tough horse not to like as well. The horse has won three in a row, and very professionally. The figures are decent. Tough to leave out as well.

5 C P West 15-1

Despite all the good things I've said about some of the colts above, this horse will be my play. This horse has what I love to see in a 2yo, and that is hidden talent. By this, I mean we just don't know what the horse is capable of yet. He won his debut in a slow paced race and finishing very fast (75-86) for a late pace rating of 92. Last out, he tracked a slow pace while moving straight into a G1 race. While the 4 above got the jump on him that day, he was the better horse in my opinion, and looks to be crying out for more ground. He gets it Saturday, and should really be rolling late from a good stalking position.

6 Principle Secret 5-1

Set a quick pace in the Norfolk, only to be nailed late by Stormello. While the figure was good, I don't really expect better, and thus think this horse is in for a tough day.

7 Great Hunter 9-2

He exploded to a new lifetime top in his 6th 2yo start. Was it the two turns? Was it the polytrack? Or was it the extremely fast pace he closed into? My guess is it was a combination of the three, but at the expected short price, I'll pass. That doesn't mean he can't win, but there is little value with so many questions.

8 Teuflesberg 50-1

Likely pace factor, but little else. He finally broke his maiden in try number eight, and shows no indication to want any parts of a route. Will provide pressure to the other speeds for a ½ mile or so.

9 Circular Quay 5-2

Has done little wrong, especially if you excuse his polytrack loss as short odds last out. However, his two stakes wins have been the result of dream trips behind red hot paces, especially the Hopeful. He looks more like a closing sprinter to me than a horse that wants a route. At the expected short odds, no thanks.

10 Pegasus Wind 15-1

Another expected pace factor. He just appears a tad slow overall, and the 10 hole did him no favors at all. Outsider.

11 Got the Last Laugh 20-1

One good win with a nice figure sandwiched in between two poor looking races. Since the one win was in the slop, and the horse has a huge Mud Tomlinson rating of 466, I tend to think this horse is only a contender if the skies open up.

12 U D Ghetto 50-1

I have little idea what to make of this horse. His last dirt race looks pretty good, and he did win on poly despite a horrible post. He is probably up against, but I'd have to put a very small piece of any P3 ticket on him at this price.

13 Malt Magic 30-1

After a few so so efforts that don't really fit here, he ran dismally while regressing in the Norfolk. He'd shock me, and probably anyone else, if he able to win from this post.

14 Skip Code 50-1

Won his last two, but both on the WO polytrack. His sire, Skip Away, is proving to be a strong polytrack sire. Unfortunately for this horse's connections, this race is on dirt.

RECAP:

I really like the 5 C P West in here. The horse has loads of talent, and should get ample pace to run at late.
